Forgiving and Forgetting

Forgiving and forgetting seems to be a concept that some grapple with. Believe me, I understand. Some of us carry wounds so deep that we’ll struggle in pain for the rest of our lives. But we as Christians are on a journey to become more like Christ. Every day we walk the face of this earth we will lean upon the grace, mercy and forgiveness of God. How would it change our perspective and relationship with God if our sins were forgiven, but not forgotten? If having a loving Father who makes the choice daily to forgive and forget my sins, how can I, in good conscience turn around and tell you that I’ll forgive you, but I won’t forget what you did to me? Living in the Past Undermines the Grace of God

Living in the past is one of the greatest tools the enemy uses to trip us up. When we’re concentrating on our past mistakes, we’re living under condemnation. Living in the past totally undermines the Grace of God. There is no mistake so big that the Grace of God can’t take care of. Ask God to give you the ability to fully understand the Grace of God that has been extended to you. Once His Grace toward you has been fully understood, acceptance of His Grace and forgiveness of yourself can take place.

Salvation is a Gift

Salvation is a gift that can only be obtained by and through the grace of God. The scriptures says “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). Salvation can’t be bought. It’s can’t be worked for. It can’t be stolen. The only way to obtain salvation is to reach out and receive it. Without Him We Can Do Nothing

Without Him we can do nothing. That seems like a pretty obvious statement, yet I think that sometimes in our quest to achieve, we forget that without God we can do nothing (John 15:5). The grace of God surrounds us. He leads, guides, protects, and prospers us by His grace. Let’s be determined throughout the course of our days as we experience the blessing of God manifesting in our lives to remember how big He is and how small we are in the grand scheme of things.
